ABOUT ME
Greetings once again. I am 47 years old, of Irish and Indian descent, born and raised in Auckland.
I attended, first, the University of Auckland, then Harvard University in Boston to study for my PhD. I lived for six years in the USA, enjoying friendships with a wide variety of people.
I returned to Auckland, drawn back by my love of my family, and of the country, to accept a lectureship at the University. I worked there for 10 years, focusing my energies on teaching, and on issues such as equal opportunities, and working with Maori and Pasifika students.
I thoroughly enjoyed teaching and received wonderful feedback from many students. They commented on my friendliness, my excellent public speaking skills, my warm smile, my clear and reassuring voice, my enthusiasm, and my respect and patience towards them.
Some time ago I decided I wanted to bring one of my key talents - my capacity to support people during deeply emotional times - into my everyday work, and discovered the wonderful path of celebrancy.
I completed a Certificate in Celebrant Studies at the Auckland University of Technology, and subsequently gained my professional registration. And in 2009 I became one of the first few celebrants to be accredited, via peer review, by the Celebrants Association of New Zealand.
